The provided iButton key is manufactured by A.N.G with DS1990A chip . Each button is factory lasered with a guaranteed unique 64-Bit Serial NO. for traceability. It’s sealed with stainless-steel shell with strong anti-water/shake/rust/water/corrosion capability.
A.N.G's iButton devices are small, durably packaged modules with globally unique digital addresses. Enhanced by A.N.G's 1-Wire communications protocol, they provide the ability to deliver or record data where other products cannot, such as in very harsh environments. An iButton device is ideal for any application where information needs to follow a person or object, such as temperature and humidity data logging, access control, asset tracking, and electronic cash (eCash) transactions.
iButton devices offer a simple, secure way of identifying assets. Each iButton device has a unique 64-bit address that can be used as an electronic serial number that is never duplicated. Additionally, onboard memory of up to 32kB gives assets their own personalized database. This database enables storage of unique information about each asset, including maintenance records and inventory management information that are permanently affixed to each asset.

When developing an iButton solution for an application, you can consider many complementary technologies. Bar codes, RFID tags, magnetic stripe, prox, and smart cards are some of the possibilities. Unlike bar codes and magnetic stripe cards, most of the iButton devices can be read AND be written to. In addition, the communication rate and product breadth of iButton devices go well beyond the simple memory products typically available with RFID. As for durability, the thin plastic of smart cards is no match for the strength of the stainless-steel-clad iButton device.
